The second issue of B|ta'arof Magazine, released June of 2013, is centered around the theme of the body. The themed section features an extended conversation with Firoozeh Kashani-Sabet, sketches by Tara Najd Ahmadi, photographs by Hadi Salehi, poetry by Solmaz Sharif, and writing by Tara Aghdashloo. It also features a pair of complementary—yet in some ways diametrically opposed—interviews with artists working at the margins of 20th century Iranian music: Dariush Dolat-Shahi and Lloyd Miller. In the effort to continue supporting the art of translation, the issue includes English translations of a Nima Yushij poem as well as of an archival interview with Ahmad Fardid by Alireza Meibodi. The Fardid translation is a first of its kind. These pieces appear alongside a series of works—including oral history adaptations, nonfiction essays, and original images—exploring and assessing the various contours of the Iranian experience and its body politic.
